André Leon Talley’s is a singular, uniquely American story in the big-money world of high fashion; raised in the segregated Jim Crow South, Talley has gone on to become a defining figure in the history of style. Kate Novack’s THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO ANDRÉ brings André’s childhood experiences with his elegant grandmother and the Black Church together with his rise as a global tastemaker at magazines like Women’s Wear Daily, W, and Vogue to tell the story of the transformational career of one of the most iconic figures in 20th Century American culture. Full of wit, brutal honesty, and an unflinching eye for talent, André Leon Talley remains as engaging and inspired as he is glamorously biting.
