For our recent Duel of the Decades: 80’s vs. 90’s show we hosted our VIP Lounge backstage! And yes, backstage can be as hectic and exciting as you might imagine. Bandmates practicing their harmonies in spandex and leg warmers while sitting on giant Rubix Cubes, readying for musical battle, is something don’t see every day.
In the VIP Lounge beer and pink champagne were flowing and our members and the guests of our sponsor Flemington Motors were gobbling down Gummy Bears and Swedish Fish. (Every good VIP Lounge has Gummy Bears and Swedish Fish, right?) Our most recent “New Sensation” VIP members joined us, proudly wearing their Wellmont T-shirts. A wife bought the membership as a present for her husband’s birthday. (Great gift idea!)
As the band made their way down from the dressing rooms they stopped by the lounge for a photo-op under the Wellmont sign. Their energy was infectious. Moments later, Michael Winslow, from Police Academy, made a cameo visit for our VIP guests. One person asked Winslow, “Are you rooting for the 80’s or 90’s band?” He replied, “Whatever band fills the cup with the better drink.”
As the band took the stage our VIPs joined the party in our packed auditorium and rocked to Prince’s “Purple Rain”, Blink 182’s “What’s My Age Again?” and Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”. I saw some hot moves out on the floor!
The backstage VIP Lounge was a blast. Interested in being a Wellmont Theater VIP Member? Click here for more information.
